Outdoors

The club has superb outdoor shooting facilities. A purposely constructed grass range consisting of a shooting area of 80 yards wide and 100 yards long. The width of the range is sufficient to allow the siting of 32 bosses across it's width. The range extends some further 52 yards to it's rear boundary where it is terminated with a 1.7m high grass covered bank.

The range has good drainage characteristic's having a fall of 1.65m across the width of the field (from left to right) and a rise of 1.40m from shooting line to the 100yd line. Yes, it's slightly uphill to get your arrows.

The club uses a static shooting line, waiting, and tent lines are positioned 5 and 10 yards behind respectively. Our  front boundary lies some 15 yards further back. The range is permanently marked out for all metric and imperial distances, and a number of foam bosses are permanently left out for members to shoot 24/7.

The range is  oriented along a South South West to North North East bearing, allowing archers to shoot without having the sun in their eyes, no matter what the time of the year.

The outdoor range allows for shooting at the maximum distance of 100yds ( providing an overshoot in access of the required amount) The field has mature trees on three sides that screens it from the prevailing winds.  The range is wide enough take up to 32 bosses across the width, and because of this width, it can operate as three separate ranges if bosses are positioned in accordance with G.N.A.S. rules of shooting. Ample parking is provided adjacent the grounds.

The club has full control of the outdoor facilities. Members can shoot 7 days a week, 365 days a year, other than when special events have been organised.
